Nurses and doctors all across the state are speaking out about the inhumane consequences Kentucky’s abortion laws have created. These laws not only restrict abortion access, which I believe is misguided in itself, but have also created confusion, delays, and barriers to healthcare for women experiencing miscarriages, stillbirths, nonviable pregnancies, and other serious medical complications. Many of the same procedures, techniques, and medications used in abortion care are also used to treat these conditions. If we can’t even support mothers-to-be when they are facing some of the most difficult moments of their lives, what kind of people are we?
If you are a healthcare provider, please add your voice to the movement. Share the harm you’ve seen firsthand from the policies Kentucky lawmakers have imposed on the people of this state. If you’re not a healthcare provider, at least make a pledge, consider donating, and at the very least vote against these outdated policies and the lawmakers who continue to support them. Let’s show the world that Kentucky stands with its women. Our mothers, sisters, daughters, wives, and friends mean more to us than political talking points. Stand up, Kentucky, and do what’s right.
